
At BAR BACK, we’re a small team of olive enthusiasts trying to deliver the most delicious experience we can.
It all started over a couple of drinks and a handful of olives in a small, smokey bar in Italy around Christmas time after a missed fight home. It wasn’t all bad though. The bar was comfortable with it’s nautical theme, low lighting, wood-paneled walls, and rounded windows looking into the bustling streets. There was a bowl of olives on every table for it’s patrons to snack on over a conversation and a smokey spirit.
Eventually, we found our way back to California but had a sense of longing for what we experienced overseas. While pondering how to recreate the ambiance of that mythical bar. We kept coming back to the hors d'oeuvres placed on the counter for the patrons to snack on in between conversations. It dawned on us that perhaps the humble olive could be the vessel for nostalgia of a European vacation in a jar.
After some experimenting with dozens of different types of olives and countless revisions to the brine, we had a breakthrough. At the end of the process, we stumbled upon the perfect concoction to produce a flavor that personified not only a comfortable bar with a stiff Negroni, but also a picnic in a park under a tree with meats and cheeses during sunset. To us, it’s the perfect on-the-go or at-home snack that can be shared or enjoyed in solitude. Let it transport you to the coastal retreat you deserve.
